Born 02:34
Sunlight falls away from me, I guess I’m born I saw what power is, anger shed I saw what power is, truth instead I saw where beauty lies, clear as hate I saw where horizon ends, desperate Sunlight falls away from me, I guess I’m born I send this evil back, from where it came I send this message to, the ones that stayed I send the earth alone, my loving grace I scribe what justice is, face to face

Mirror 03:24
I wake up in the morning Looking in the mirror Tear myself apart I never wanted it to come to this. I prayed to you like a god Gave a child the power of the sky put hatred on a throne Ill rip the halo from your crown you ask for mercy I never got take a look in this mirror Take a look in this mirror You don’t like what see You don’t like what see Im driving up and down i5 Like a darkness with a single light Searching for the lost ones Suffering from an excess of hope I heard you’re living in Oregon I think you’re living in California I know you died in Texas I watch your headlights run the ceiling White Christmas on the radio I pretend I’m sleeping But I listen to you all night Television talking to you No one talking to me One eye to the inside One eye to the out One eye to the inside One eye to the out One eye to the inside One eye to the out One to the inside One to the out One to the inside One to the out you ask you ask you ask you ask for mercy Take a look You don’t like what you see Take a look Take a look in this mirror

Heat 03:44
Take that bottle take that bottle Love it like you would have loved me Fill the air with your cigarettes You know that I can’t breathe Walls of filth, where will I sleep? Rancid candy and nothing to eat Yeah when there’s nothing You find your own heat Yeah when there’s nothing You find your own heat Yeah when there’s nothing You find your own heat counting down the hours counting down the years Counting down the fantasies Counting down the fears Take that bottle like a new born babe Does it make the sadness fade? Its ok you be the kid, Im grown enough cant live with what you’ve done So why don’t I? Couldn’t see what was wrong Did you even try? Did I cry too much? Or not enough? Will we survive? Some have not The door is open You have to leave to be free So many ways to escape You gotta find your own heat Walk out the door Counting down the hours Counting down the days and the weeks Counting down the years Will we survive? Some have not Nick went numb And Tom ate exhaust counting down those hours counting down those years Something warm Something keeping me here Yeah when there’s nothing You find your own heat Yeah when’s there’s nothing You find your own heat counting down the hours counting down the years Counting down the fantasies Living through the fears counting down the hours counting down the years Warming off a spark lighting up the dark

Nursemaid 02:03
Do you spit or swallow Do you spit or swallow You tell me about thirst Im not your eternal nurse maid Do you spit or swallow? Am I hole or hollow? This milk is poisoned with all your hate Will you spit or are you sick? Sick

about

"New band featuring some of the bay area's finest...'In A Mood' punk but with a sharp edge, like Arctic Flowers on a grungy but sassy day" --MRR

Hailing from the East Bay, DIFFICULT started after guitarist Joan DeToro relocated from Tallahassee, FL for a brief stint as a coordinator for Maximum Rocknroll and to better combat her gender dysphoria as a trans woman. After meeting Megan March (drummer for Berkeley truewave punks Street Eaters) in 2018, the two quickly found a musical chemistry in each other worth cultivating. The duo recruited token male bassist John No (who also plays bass in Street Eaters) in short order. Left with searching for a singer, they went pure punk and pulled a mystery card by bringing in Elle No, an explosive new vocalist who would be fronting her first band ever. Recorded in March’s basement studio, DIFFICULT’s debut demo features four songs written over the turbulent year of 2018, a queer scream amidst an increasingly disturbing national landscape. The songs are personal, angry, relatable, and give voice to the hunger for more.

Driving, fervent guitar lines delivered by primary songwriter DeToro set the tone for DIFFICULT's bold, tough-yet melodic sound. DeToro skillfully creates tense and desperate rhythms that easily break apart into chaotic, charged solos. March’s sharp and dynamic drumming, along with John No’s expressive, intuitive bass playing, offers the refined chemistry of their 10+ year musical partnership. Accompanied by Elle’s No's emotional vocals that evoke life’s despairing moments and regrets, DIFFICULT manages a rigorous trip into surviving the
shadows of humanity, while issuing a sound that is both reverent of punk and hardcore’s past and eagerly anticipating the future. The result is a sound that is both danceable and commanding: it’s easy to like DIFFICULT.
